The University of Georgia Bulldogs football team took a big hit today when it was announced that starting left tackle Trinton Sturdivant would be out for the season. He injured his left knee yesterday in Georgia’s first scrimmage and will require season-ending reconstructive surgery. Ouch!
Georgia seems to be plagued with injuries and arrests ever since becoming #1. Sturdivant was a great run blocker and really knew how to push the pile. A lot of Knowshon Moreno’s big runs can be attributed to the gaping holes Trinton opened up. He’ll likely be replaced by fellow sophomore Josh Davis.
At least there is still some time for him to work with the first team. It’s so important for the offensive line to gel together. I hope the o-line doesn’t miss a beat and can still block for Knowshon.

The word “nagging” never sounds good when it comes to football injuries. Luckily, in the case of Knowshon Moreno, “nagging” is being used to describe some pain in his shoulder. Thank God it’s not a hammy, knee, or ankle. Then I’d be worried. Fans were worried on Friday afternoon when Knowshon showed up to practice wearing that green, no contact jersey. “I don’t know if [the green jersey] makes a whole hill of beans,” Richt said. “When we do our [non-tackling contact] drills, it’s hard for him not to get run into, or to bump into somebody going through the line.”
Sounds like the Dawgs were just be precautious. No sense in trying to run Knowshon out there in a practice when he doesn’t need it. Give the shoulder some time to get right. “Knowshon is not the type of guy to go to the trainer and say ‘my shoulder hurts a little bit,’ ” Richt said. “[But] he’s fine. He could play today, absolutely.”
We’ll keep you updated.

The University of Georgia Bulldogs started fall practice today. It’s great to finally have football news coming in. The summer has been so long! In addition to the Dawgs taking the field, news just came out a few days ago that they were ranked #1 in the Coaches Poll!
Here’s what Mark Richt had to say about it: “”We are very excited about this season. It is the first time Georgia has been preseason No. 1. It’s exciting to have Knowshon Moreno on the cover of USA Today.”
Whoa? Knowshon Moreno was on the cover of USA Today? Holy crap.. I need to find a copy. Too bad when I go to their website I don’t see his picture slapped up at the top. If anyone picked up a copy of USA Today, was Knowshon on the front page of the entire paper or just the Sports page? Either way, that’s really cool!
