In honor of Knowshon Moreno leaving college football for the NFL, I have upgraded this fan site to show the team colors of his new team, the Denver Broncos. Over the next few days I’ll upgrade the biography, pictures, videos, etc. I hope we’ll still see Georgia fans stopping by to check out one of their former players, but from here on out this site will be focusing on Moreno’s career as a Bronco.

If there’s anything you’d like to see on this fan site, please comment and I’ll consider adding it.

From one fan of Knowshon to another,

I’ve written quite a few blog entries for Bulldawg Illustrated regarding Knowshon. As a UGA fan I’m trying to move on, but I’m resigned to the fact that I’m not going to be able to keep from watching Denver games that I otherwise wouldn’t.

If you want one Dawg fan’s perspective on the great Knowshon Moreno, I’d be pleased if you read mine:

Enjoy your upcoming NFL season and good luck to KnowMo in the # 27.

Andrew, thanks for the links and the luck in my move from the SEC to the NFL. I watch a lot of NFL games, especially the AFC… so I don’t think it will be too hard to cover him.

I’m looking forward to getting to talk about his Fantasy impact as well :-)

Like the rest of the Denver Broncos rookies, running back Knowshon Moreno(notes) didn’t take a lot of repetitions during his first minicamp. But he did enough to show he belongs.

Moreno, the 12th overall pick of the draft, will be a big part of Denver’s offense this season. His role isn’t known yet but he will play.

“He definitely looks like a good running back,” offensive tackle Ryan Harris(notes) said. “He’s got all the physical tools.”

Moreno admitted to dealing with all of the same nerves most rookies experience in their first minicamp. He has a long way to go getting the offense down.

“It’s all in the learning stage right now,” Moreno said.

He didn’t appear fazed by the physical aspect of the game, nor should he. He was a first-team all-SEC pick last season. Eventually, the Broncos think he can contribute in all situations—not just running the ball but in pass protection and catching the ball out of the backfield.

Moreno did cause a bit of a stir with his choice of numbers. He wanted to wear No. 27, which hadn’t been issued by the Broncos since cornerback Darrent Williams(notes) was shot and killed on Jan. 1, 2007.

Moreno asked the Williams family about wearing the number. They requested he put in some time at the Darrent Williams Teen Center in the Denver area, and Moreno said he planned on doing that.

“It’s a great thing,” Moreno said. “It’s a privilege and I’m going to honor it in the right ways, on and off the field.”

if you were a running back, & you were heading to the nfl, how would you decide which team you wanted to play for? the uniform? a city near a beach? how bout making a list of the best offensive lines in game, crossing your fingers, & hoping to be so lucky? sounds like knowshon did just fine with the denver broncos. even though there ain’t no beach:

The offensive line doesn’t register on the team’s list of concerns entering training camp.

Denver had one of the best offensive lines in the NFL last season, and it returns intact. Last year the Broncos allowed a franchise-record low 12 sacks and were tied for second in the NFL with 4.8 yards per rushing attempt.

Once center Casey Wiegmann(notes) decided to return for another season, the offensive line was solidified as perhaps the strength of the team.

“We hope so,” right tackle Ryan Harris(notes) said. “I think it’s unique when you get all five guys back, I don’t think that happens a lot.”

The Broncos have had some upheaval at just about every other position this offseason. Everyone on offense and defense is also learning a new system. The linemen are learning too, but coming back for a second straight year together helps the transition.

Wiegmann is the key to the communication on the line. The longtime veteran, who made his first Pro Bowl last year, stepped in for an injured Tom Nalen(notes) during training camp and the other linemen followed his lead.

“When you have someone you’re familiar with like that, the communication is short,” Harris said. “Instead of saying ‘We have to go there,’ you can say ‘Right,’ or ‘Left,’ or something that is familiar to that person.”

The line started all last year together. They might not be as lucky this season to stay relatively injury free, but their presence will help the running game and whoever starts at quarterback. The continuity on the line is immediately evident in practice.

“They just work together, and their communication is amazing,” said rookie center Blake Schlueter(notes), a seventh-round pick. “You can tell they’ve been together a while. They all know what the other person is going to do.”
